Blog 7 - Second Interview Preparation

  1. Who is your mentor and where do they work? If their workplace does not reflect their expertise, what makes them an expert?
    • My mentor is Michael Couper who is the senior programmer at CCS Interactive which is a company that specializes in web design, programming, and marketing. He has a lot of responsibilities being the chief programmer and usually has to work on two fronts. First, he helps plan programming projects and oversees that it can and will get done. However, he also has to interact with clients in order to fully understand what they want and need and balance it with what they can and cannot do. He also makes sites that their programs and servers continue to work and provide the best service to their clients and if it means improving and building on their systems himself, he will do that as well.
  2. What five questions will you ask them about their background?
    • What made you want to pursue this line of work and how did you go about making it happen?
    • Where did you go to school? What classes did you take and what did you major in?
    • How long did it take you to get to your current position? Was it difficult?
    • Did you consider any other professions within this field? If so, what are they and how related are they to your current skills and knowledge? If not, what other choices did you want to pursue?
    • If you could have done anything differently knowing what you know now and considering where you are today, would you? Either to make things easier for you or just make it a better experience?
