- Where are you doing your mentorship?
- I've been doing my mentorship at CCS Interactive, that specialises in web design, programming, SEO, social media & internet marketing. It is located in the city of Ontario.
- Who is your contact? What makes this person an expert?
- My contact is Michael Couper, who is the senior programmer at CCSI. He is practically in charge of building the sites through programming and the other technical aspects of web development.
- How many hours have you done during the school year? (Summer Mentorship Hours and Mentorship Hours should be reflected separately in your Senior Project Hours log located on the right hand side of your blog).
- As of December 29, 2015, I have completed 46 mentorship hours during the school year.
- Succinctly summarize what you did, how well you and your mentor worked together, and how you plan to complete the remaining hours.
- The first few months of our meetings consisted of learning about how their process of building a site works. What my mentor taught me basically begins from after a client has approved the design and the program/building begins. He walked me through how his codes work and the different things to consider when coding a site to ensure that every line of code is utilised to its potential which most of the time means that it is placed strategically to avoid or make things easier later in the site's foundation. Then he gradually leaves me to my own devices to try and build sites on my own with little to no guidance which has been what the past month has been about. I think my mentor and I work well together and that he has even taken to discussing what my plans for the future are and I what my options are based on my preferences, skills, interests, and whether or not I may continue to pursue web design as a career. To complete my remaining hours, I just plan to come in after school on days that I won't have other pressing obligations such as group/club meetings or anything that would clash with my parents' plans since they are my means of transportation. I think I will be continuing to help my mentor build sites and I will probably have him help with preparing for the final lesson as well as the paper and any more research that I should be considering.
